Malaysia is one of Asia's biggest employers of foreign labour. But recently, cases of deaths, abuse and forced labour have come to light. What is going on? Who is protecting these migrant workers?
Its president, Syed Shahir Syed Mohamud, said MTUC council members would meet
soon to decide whether the picket would be held.

Besides the capital, the pickets would be held simultaneously in 13 places
including Petaling Jaya, Bangi, Shah Alam, Klang, Johor, Kuching, Penang, Ipoh,
Malacca and Seremban, he told a press conference in Butterworth today.

He said that the congress’ first round of pickets on June 25 had met its
objective of sending a strong message to the government.

“But the response to our demand has been very cold. As such, we will hold
another round if a positive response from the government is not in sight,”
he added. — Bernama
