as a violation of human rights, a foreign observer said.

Jakarta- Indonesian migrant workers in neighbouring Malaysia
face serious abuses ranging from rape, beatings and long hours of forced work,
a senior UN official on migrant rights said Wednesday. Ending a week-long visit
to Indonesia, Jorge Bustamante, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Situation
of Human Rights of Migrants, blamed the abuses partly on a memorandum of understanding
signed by the two South-East Asian nations, which allows such violations.
