Malaysia is one of Asia's biggest employers of foreign labour. But recently, cases of deaths, abuse and forced labour have come to light. What is going on? Who is protecting these migrant workers?
Its president, Syed Shahir Syed Mohamud, said in a statement that higher toll rates would set off a chain reaction of higher prices for goods, services and transportation.
<p>Yesterday, Works Minister Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said his ministry was trying
to work out a "win-win" increase in charges for eight tolls due for
revision in January.</p>
<p>"We are studying and talking to the concessionaires to find out ways to
benefit both sides. We want to find a way in which the people will not feel
too much burden," he had said.</p>
