Malaysia is one of Asia's biggest employers of foreign labour. But recently, cases of deaths, abuse and forced labour have come to light. What is going on? Who is protecting these migrant workers?
Its deputy head of mission, Abdul Aziz Harun, however, said legal action would
take some time as police had to be meticulous in their probe.
<p>"I told her husband Ridwan and two children who met me today that the
Malaysian government always upholds the law and that the guilty party will be
punished," he told Bernama here today.</p>
<p>Abdul Aziz said during the meeting, a representative from a non-governmental
organisation and those from her village in Brebes, Central Java called for a
speedy completion of Ceriyati’s case and the protection of her rights.</p>
<p>Indonesian newspapers had frontpaged reports carried by Malaysian newspapers
on Ceriyati’s daring escape from the upper floors of a condominium block in
Sentul on Saturday.</p>
