KUALA LUMPUR: The manager of a convenience store was sentenced to six months’ jail by the magistrate’s court here today for outraging the modesty of two of his workers at the workplace.
Magistrate Mohamad Firdaus Sadina Ali imposed the sentence on Roslan Abd Wahab, 35, after he pleaded guilty to two counts of using criminal force on the two women, aged 21 and 33, with the intention of outraging their modesty.
The court imposed a jail sentence of six months each for the first and second charges but ordered the sentences to run concurrently from Feb 3, the date of his arrest.
The accused was charged with committing the offences at a convenience store in Ampang here at 1.30pm on Jan 24 and 9am on Jan 26, under Section 354 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail sentence of up to 10 years or a fine or whipping, or any two of the punishments.
Earlier, the accused, who was not represented, appealed to the court for a light sentence as he had repented and promised not to repeat the offence.
Deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Zuhaini Mahamad Amin, however, urged the court to impose a heavy sentence as the actions of the accused had caused trauma to the victims and sexual crimes were on the rise.
