The purpose of the meeting was to discuss upon the invitation from the company after a deadlock occurred during the earlier discussions between the Union and the Company. The MTUC has been called upon to resolve this issue just before the picket that was planned earlier. The meeting was so well conducted that both parties voiced the cause of the dispute during the previous discussions. The MTUC is of the opinion that Kulim Infineon’s management is serious about re-negotiating with the Union at the negotiating table. The concern and sincerity of the management represented by Mr Ng KT clearly shows that they are committed to signing the 2nd Collective Agreement as soon as possible.
Bro J Solomon in his statement emphasized that it is important for both parties to re-discuss back at the negotiation table immediately for the benefit of both parties, as all union members are B40 and M40. This is very important to ensure that their welfare is taken care of.
At the end of the discussion, both parties agreed to resume negotiations on March 30, 2020. One week before the date of the meeting, both parties had to submit their latest proposal for further discussion. Employers also agree and promise to pay backpay beginning January 1, 2020 in the event of a delay in signing a new Collective Agreement.
