Malaysia is one of Asia's biggest employers of foreign labour. But recently, cases of deaths, abuse and forced labour have come to light. What is going on? Who is protecting these migrant workers?

MTUC reach out to worker’s at TBS.
MTUC Task Force led by Bro K Soma, Assistant Secretary of Education and represented by Bro Rudy (CEUPM), Bro Zul Thye (MTUC MRC), Bro Azli (KPPIT), Bro Faizal (KPPIT), Bro Khairul (KPPIT), Bro Kamal Hashim (NUPCIW), Bro Salleh (EIUSR), Sis Idawati (EIUSR), Bro Syamsul (KEA) and Sis Mira (CEUPM) have successfully organized an outreach program, to create awareness on worker’s issues, to promote the Labour’ Day Celebration and also introduce MTUC to the public. A brochure on MTUC’s role as a workers representative, services offered to workers, how to organize and establish a union and also a circular on Labour Day celebrations.
Meanwhile, the MTUC MRC headed by Bro Zul Thye-MTUC MRC Coordinator also co-organized with Johor MRC officer, represented by Bro Salleh and KL / SEL MRC officer represented by Bro Rudy distributed brochures on migrant workers as well as MRAs. We were able to provide advice on the issues with some of the people present at our exhibition kiosk.
The program began from 10.00am and ends at 3.15pm. We plan to continue our outreach program in other places and states in the future. Thank you to all those who are involved in this program despite of the holidays in the weekend.
