Malaysia is one of Asia's biggest employers of foreign labour. But recently, cases of deaths, abuse and forced labour have come to light. What is going on? Who is protecting these migrant workers?
Police chief, Musa Hassan, has proposed the movements of foreign workers be restricted, to prevent them from becoming involved in crime.</P><P>Amnesty International Malaysia says migrant workers are entitled to the same basic rights as anyone else.
<P>This
includes the right to liberty and security and to equality before the law without
discrimination.</P><P>The Islamic Party says the restrictive plan is ridiculous
and will provoke international condemnation.</P><P>Deputy prime minister, Najib
Razak, says the government had yet to make a firm decision on the proposal.</P>
