KUANTAN, April 9 (Bernama) — A construction worker was crushed to death by a concrete archway which was accidentally knocked down by a lorry at Lorong Sentosa Kanan 2, near Muadzam Shah, Rompin Tuesday.
State Public Order and Traffic chief Supt Mohamed Fauzi Abdul Rahim said during the 9.50am incident, Juhari Muhammad, 51, was directing a ready-mixed concrete lorry driver to reverse his vehicle.
He said the lorry suddenly hit the top of a concrete archway which fell on the victim and crushed him to death.
“The victim who sustained severe head and body injuries, died while being treated at Muadzam Shah Hospital,” he said here Wednesday.
Meanwhile, he said a cable contractor, Mohd Amel Mohd Dahalan, 24, was killed when the car he was driving skidded at Km47 of Jalan Kuantan-Segamat near Pekan, early this morning.
According to Mohamed Fauzi, during the 12.30am accident, the victim was on his way from Tanjung Pulai, Pekan to Segamat when he lost control of his car at the location, skidded and crashed into a tree on the opposite side of the road.
He said the victim died of serious injuries on the head and body at the scene.
