Its 46-year-old union managed to resolve differences with the management out
of court although the Human Resources Ministry had referred their matter to
the Industrial Court in May 2004.
<p>Union chief R. Vittal Rao said it was a happy day for its 704 union members,
who had been promised a revision of the salary structure, which currently provides
RM725 as the starting scale, next year. </p>
<p>“The CA is what we wanted because with a written agreement the welfare
of the staff can be better taken care of although there were no complaints on
the benefits provided to the staff earlier,” he said. </p>
<p>He added that the best was the medical benefit, for treatment at government
as well as private clinics, being extended to the workers’ family. </p>
<p>The CA was signed yesterday between the management and union of PNMB.
