<b>Nov 5, 2004:</b> Malaysia agreed in principle to extend the amnesty for
illegal foreign workers after Indonesia’s Manpower and Transmigration Minister
Fahmi Idris meets Abdullah.
<p><b>Nov 11, 2004:</b> Abdullah announced the extension of the amnesty deadline
to Nov 14, after Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono appealed for
a postponement. </p>
<p><b>Dec 30, 2004:</b> Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced
a further extension of the amnesty to Jan 31 following a request by Indonesia
which had to grapple with the Dec 26 earthquake and tsunami off Sumatra. </p>
<p><b>Jan 31, 2005:</b> Operations against illegal immigrants are called off.
